Big(G) in Japan

We often think Google power it’s world wide recognized.

However this might be true in western countries, while big G still has to make is way to the top in countries like Russia or even japan.

In order to increase daily page views, Google added a new search feature on his japanese homepage callesd “hot keywords“. Basically it’s a short list of the most searched terms of the day.

And it’s not over yet.

…to overcome his traffic handicap towards , Google is trying to generate some artificial buzz through a pay-per-post campaign called CyberBuzz

It’s kind of sad. Google has never relied on such means to get traffic and seduce users. On the other hand, they’ll have to eventually face the fact that search engine preferences are also biased by cultural and linguistics factors, rather than marketing plans.
